So in this case, you'll probably never get to the top, but if you play it right over a few generations you could easily take over your Duke's spot and with some well planned marriages and assassinations, your heirs could enter the royal family. If you're in the Holy Roman Empire, that king has to deal with the Emperor too. Being a count sucks, because you have to deal with your boss (a duke), who has to deal with the king. At the same time, you can play the game as a small-time lord (there are like 10000 people to be from every culture), like a city baron, a count, or a duke and you report to people above you.
Essentially, everyone is a human and they're oftentimes driven by personal motives and ambitions, so you have to watch your back if you're the king since your vassals would love to take your place. Never actually open converted.Yeah, that's basically just the general idea of the game and why it's so complex (and hard for new users for a while).

I usually blob Romuva and eat most of Lithuania and Germany.ħ69 Svitjod (Vikings) - Ive played MANY different viking starts.
Some fun and challenging places Ive already tried:ħ69 Siemen - Talk about a challenge.but its definitely fun after you get going pretty good.ħ69 Lithuania (Romuva) - Is always easy and fun to me.especially with the updated maps its not as easy to quickly roll over the competition. I am looking for fun/interesting/challenging start (preferably 769)
